Name: Veronica

School/Major: University of Michigan – Psychology

Hometown: Troy, Michigan

Why did you start with KBD Edge? The people were really friendly and had big goals and I wanted to be a part of that.

What is your favorite part about working with KBD Edge? The friendships I’ve built here and the personal growth I continue to experience day-in and day-out.

If you can travel anywhere in the world where would you go? Havana, Cuba

Who is one of your role models? My mom. She is the strongest, most selfless, and hardworking person I know.

What are some of your favorite hobbies? How did you get into these hobbies? Traveling, road trips, backpacking, trying new food/experiencing different cultures, music festivals, salsa/bachata dancing, yoga/Pilates. I moved to Madrid after college where I taught English during the school year and worked in outdoor adventure camps in Germany and England in the summertime. I made friends along the way who invited me to join them on their travels and invited me to experience their cultures and meet their families.

Do you play any sports? I used to be a Cheerleader for The University of Michigan. I also played intramural basketball and soccer! I love to play volleyball with the office and any sport for fun.

How do you relax after work? Grab dinner and drinks with friends, get my nails done, FaceTime my family and friends, or just enjoy some Netflix and chill.

What is your advice for new leaders on the team? Don’t compare yourself to anyone else but yourself. Always try to be a better version of yourself than the day before. The only person you should compete with is you. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Take advantage of the resources around you. Build relationships in and outside your office. Don’t be afraid to fail and get back up and keep growing.

What is your favorite book and why? Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins. His story is so savage that it makes all your own problems feel so small in comparison and really teaches you to dig deep and take life lessons and use them as fuel to keep going. The mindset he has is insane and I love the way he tells his story so honestly.

What is your favorite quote? May it be infinite while it lasts.

Who is your favorite sports team and why? Any U of M team and Athletico De Madrid soccer team because it was the first team I really felt like I belonged to in Spain and the fan base is so loyal it reminded me of U of M fans.

Do you have a secret talent?

Bowl a strike backward between the legs granny-style every time.

Do you have a favorite color and why?

(Go) Blue!!! Born and raised to be a Michigan Wolverine. Also reminds me of the clear blue oceans and skies in Honduras where my family is from.

If you could be any famous person in the world who would you be and why?

My girl! Jennifer Lopez. She is a boss Latina woman who is talented in so many ways and a great businesswoman. She seems like she lives life to the fullest, works hard, and plays harder.

What is your favorite thing about Chicago? How diverse it is and how many different types of people I have met here. Also, love Millennium Park and how close the beach is to the city.
